Our mission at Riverside Dental Care is to work as a team to help you and your family maintain perfect dental health. We don’t think that’s too ambitious because we know how to help you achieve this goal. The same way we work together within the office, we will work with you and each member of your family to educate all of you on caring for your teeth. In this way, we can help you prevent problems that could have the potential to permanently damage your dental health.
When you come to Riverside Dental Care for a cleaning, our hygienists will scrape and polish away the tartar from every corner of your teeth. They will use mirrors to check the back corners of your mouth to ensure they’ve cleaned every surface. They will check your gums for any signs of puffiness or redness that would reveal the start of gum disease. They will polish every surface to remove stains and leave you with that smooth, sparkling feeling.
At the same time, they will be checking you over for any signs of oral cancer. You may not notice it being done, but it happens every visit. If you have notified us of any changes in your medical history, they will note this in your records as well.
After your hygienist has had a chance to look at the condition of your teeth, she may explain how you can care for your teeth better at home to prevent any need for more expensive dental treatment. She might recommend a different type of toothbrush or other product to you.
Regular examinations by your dentist are essential to reveal any treatment needed to preserve your teeth. These are done by Dr. Silivria or one of her associates. Every filling is checked for integrity. Every tooth is examined for cracks or signs of decay. Gums are examined for signs of gum disease or other problems, such as recession. Wisdom teeth or the gums covering them are examined to ensure that all is well.
Recommendations will be made at this time on treatment that might be needed for current problems, to prevent future problems or to enhance the beauty of your smile. Each time we make a recommendation, we will treat you just like we would treat our own family. We will help you protect your health and assist you in any goals you might have for your smile, such as having a brighter or more even smile.
When it’s time for x-rays, we will take digital images of your teeth and the surrounding structures. X-rays are essential tools that enable us to detect problems between teeth, inside teeth or below the gums before they can get serious. And with digital x-rays, it’s so easy to keep your records forever, which enables us to compare your current x-rays with past ones.
For our young patients or older patients who might be particularly prone to decay, fluoride treatments can make a considerable difference. Research has proven that fluoride treatments reduce the number of cavities. That makes fluoride treatment an excellent, money-saving investment for those patients who might be expected to develop tooth decay.
This handy camera that fits easily inside your mouth is a great tool for helping you see what treatment or enhancements you might benefit from. We can actually show you that a metal filling in the back of your mouth is breaking down, or display a cracked tooth on a screen in the treatment room so you can see it. This is one way you know that our recommendations are based on honest examination of your teeth. You’ll see what we see.
